Happy Friday, I’m afraid there’s not much to ketchup on this week.
A friend mentioned Jia Tolentino’s book Trick Mirror, so I went on a deepdive of her New Yorker pieces and found this delightful interview from last year with the Yeah Yeah Yeah’s Karen O. It was so neat to hear her reflect on early-aughts indie sleaze from a post-pandemic, post-partum perspective.
Kiefer Sherwood had a Gordie Howe Hat Trick on Saturday (that’s 1 goal, 1 assist, and 1 fight) and I was already a big fan but now I just love him more. Also the fight was against former Predator Luke Kunin and that’s what you get for being on a different team tbh.
Ebenezer celebrated his TWELFTH birthday which seems impossible. I love him so much and he is never going to die. Here is a classic photo of him from like 2013:
I read What We Lose by Zinzi Clemmons, and I found it to be just OK. I recognized it as beautiful and moving, but I couldn’t really connect with it and it didn’t particularly move me, which is probably not the fault of the book. Upon further investigation, I found that it is supposedly “experimental” in form: “There are photographs, graphs, drawings, pages filled with a single line that infuse the story with an immediacy,” says one review. And I read the audiobook! So all of that was lost on me apparently! So I guess if you want to read it you should definitely pick up a hard copy.
OK that’s it love you bye!!!
